Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Jireh Research Excellence Award, applicants must:

• Be citizens of Sri Lanka

• Be enrolled full-time in an M.Phil. or Ph.D. program at a state university in Sri Lanka.

• Be pursuing research in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field.

• Be at least 6 months along in their research project.

Please be aware that meeting all the eligibility criteria does not guarantee receipt of the award. Due to limited funding, recipients will be selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of each application. 

Overview of award

The Jireh Research Excellence Award aims to support and foster the research efforts of STEM students pursuing M.Phil. or Ph.D. degrees at state universities in Sri Lanka. Recognizing the importance of innovative research in driving scientific and technological advancements, this program is committed to empowering emerging researchers by providing them with financial assistance to pursue their studies and contribute to the scientific community. The Jireh Research Excellence Award aims to award one-off awards, each worth 100,000 LKR, to deserving candidates in 2025.

How to apply

1. Complete application form: The application requests a detailed outline of the research project, including objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and its potential impact on the field of study. The application form can be downloaded from here. Please DOWNLOAD the application form and go through it carefully before reaching out to us with inquiries. Access to edit the application form will not be provided.

2. Referral Letter from Supervisor: A letter of recommendation from the applicant's research supervisor, attesting to the applicant’s research capacity, motivation, and the significance of their work should be sent by the supervisor's institutional email directly to the email, jireh.foundation.sl@gmail.com, with the subject line as the "Referral letter: applicant's name." 

3. Send in the completed application form and all the other supporting documents (mentioned in the application form) by the 15th of January 2026. Only soft copies are required, which can be mailed to jireh.foundation.sl@gmail.com with the subject line Application for Jireh Research Excellence Award 2025.
